Our Profile

Spring Gate School is a fully accredited academic school that participates in the Florida McKay School of Choice Scholarship Program and Step-Up-For Students Scholarship Program.  We successfully work with traditional students who have no medical diagnosis as well as students who are diagnosed with a variety of reasons that have kept them from being successful in other school settings.  The foundation of our program is a strong, personalized curriculum created for each student.  We provide small class sizes with certified and trained professionals.   Our staff frequently attends national, state, and district presentations and workshops to remain up-to-date on current trends or simply to learn new teaching techniques.  The staff returns with new ways to teach and reach all students.  Our staff is professional, competent, caring, and giving.

Spring Gate School is located on the campus of the Soref Jewish Community Center (JCC) in Plantation, Florida.  Our school leases an historical building on this site.  We are an independent, non-sectarian, co-educational day school that works with students from Kindergarten to age 21.  We have a school-wide population of approximately 40 diverse students.  The school, established in 2000, serves students from many locales surrounding Fort Lauderdale.  We have access to the auditorium, play grounds, and ball fields on the JCC grounds.   Inside our antique and historical walls, we proudly house over 500 books in our media center, have a state of the art computer laboratory, and a school-wide cafeteria.  Our student to faculty ratio is 1:5 and over 50% of our staff holds Masters or Doctorate Degrees in education.  Spring Gate School participates in the National School Lunch Program and therefore we offer, free and reduced lunch rates to qualifying students.  Spring Gate School also offers financial aid and in-house scholarships to many of our students.    Additionally, we are a partner with Family Central which is a service to parents and students in Broward County.  We are proud of our parental involvement and volunteerism.

Many of our students have graduated and become successful in their fields of further study.  As with all graduations, our graduation ceremonies signify a special milestone with our students and parents.  Former students show pride as they become major sources of encouragement to students and ambassadors of Spring Gate School for us.

We proudly display our awards and membership plaques in the main office.  We are members of the Association of Independent Schools of Florida, National Accreditation, Florida Association of Academic Non-Public School, International Dyslexia Association, Council for Exceptional Children, Broward County Non-Public Schools Association, and belong to many discipline specific organizations, such as National Reading Association, Florida Association of Math Teachers, etc.,  that support education and the curriculum.

Spring Gate School is a school that loves to works with the challenged student.  We offer a wide and varied curriculum and social skill/leadership opportunities.  Our campus is beautiful, safe, and rich with history and success.
